Katie will be returning to the Montana Legislature for her second term in 2021.
Katie has lived in House District 89 since 2001. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Human Biology and attended the University of Montana School of Law. Following her passion for technology, entrepreneurship, and science, Katie continued her education and received a legal masters from the University of Colorado in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law. Katie started on her path to politics by serving on her local neighborhood council.
Katie now works as a solo attorney in Missoula specializing in intellectual property law (patent, trademark and copyright) where she helps businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs protect their ideas, inventions and brands. Katie loves being part of Montana's start-up scene, and knows how important small businesses are to Montana's economy. Katie is also part owner of a small manufacturing business.
Katie met her husband, Phil Stempin of Columbia Falls, MT, while attending UM.
