Katie is running for her third term in the Montana Legislature and is excited to get back to work!
Katie has lived in Montana's House District 89 since 2001. She's an alumni of the University of Montana (undergrad) and the University of Montana Law School. Katie is a solo attorney specializing in intellectual property law (patent, trademark and copyright) where she helps businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs protect their inventions and brands. Katie loves helping Montanans start their business! Katie is also part owner of a small manufacturing business so she knows the ropes.
For the last two sessions Katie has focused her legislation on prescription drug prices, access to insulin, privacy, expanding broadband, and "right-to-repair" for agricultural equipment. She served on the following committees: Business & Labor, Energy & Telecommunications, and Agriculture. During the interim she is studying the use of facial recognition technology by government agencies, broadband expansion, and nuclear energy.
Katie is married to Phil Stempin of Columbia Falls, MT.
